Rome-Pisa-Venice, Italy - Fawas Travel Blog

[02-07-2009] We take the flight from Bangkok to Italy by Egypt air (Bangkok-Cairo-Rome) after we arrived to Da Vinci Airport we take the train into the Rome city, the train takes about 45 minutes to the center of Rome transportation called 'Termini'.

First of all we have to check in to the hotel which we booked, by taking the bus out from the city about 45 minutes to the hotel name Jonico (We just know it that it's located out town :S). We check in to the hotel and take rest for a while then we take the same bus number back to the Rome city and immediately bought the city map to learn for the bus route and travel places.

After we learn from the map, we take the bus from Termini station to the Colosseum. First time when the Colosseum were in my sight it was such a WOW, I got shock for that, it's such a big building in the city and surely there are quite a lot of tourists around. We captured a lot of photos until the night time comes around 9 PM then we take the bus back to Termini again and have the easy dinner at the small Bangladesh restaurant, then we take the bus back to Jonico hotel and have a full sleep.

[03-07-2009] I wake up early morning and breakfast at the hotel (It's free in the package) then we take the bus again to the Rome city. We bought the day tour ticket (Roma Pass) which we can take every type of city transportation and plus we can enter inside the Colosseum without pending on queue (that's nice).

We use the subway to the Vatican, there are not many tourist over there at the morning time, so it was not much queue for enter to the Vatican church and easily to consider the specific details around and capture much for the photos. We enter to the Vatican church, there are quite not many people inside, it was adorable especially the architectures to memorize as long as the priest idol and surely I never forgot to capture the photos.

We already familiar to the transportation system we take the bus to the national museum of Rome and walk along the Roman ruins pass through the Colosseum again then we went inside without pending in the long queuing.

Inside the Colosseum there are quite complete about the shape of the stadium just only few side were destroyed by the war and the time I walked around at the down floor and up floor and I always think about 'Gradiator' movie after we tour inside we went outside to walk around and take the bus back to Termini.

I trying to find the traditional Italian food and we got one, we order Spagetthi cheeses (5 types of cheese) it's almost fine. After the traditional dinner we went to check for the train route and time to Pisa for tomorrow morning and we plan to take the train at 7.30 morning. We go back to Jonico hotel by bus again....

[04-07-2009] We wake up since very early morning and check out from the hotel since 6 AM we walk to the bus station and wait for the bus to Termini, but we didn't notice that there was too early it was no bus available :S anyway we had to wait for that bus, and we arrived to the Termini by 8 AM :S We immediately book the ticket, it has another train on 10 AM so we had time to have a breakfast(same at Pakistan restaurant) and shopping for a little while.

The train departed at 10 PM, along the way sometimes beside the sea at the west side of the country there was many yaught and nice beaches.

Train arrived to Pisa city about 2 PM and like every time, we have to learn from the transportation to get to the Leaning tower of Pisa after that we got the map and we took the bus. We took the bus about 15 minutes to the Pisa tower (after we almost been the victim of the pick-pocketer in Bus :S) We arrived to the Leaning tower of Pisa, it was so nice when we saw it first time, there are a lot of tourist of course it's the 1 in the 7 of the world and there are many shop selling the solvenier and we bought many things from there. The architecture of the Leaning tower mostly made from marble as long as the architecture of the church in front was so nice. we stayed at the Pisa not for long time, after that we took the train through Florence to Venice. The train from Florence to Venice was luxurious it's call EuroStar, many people called Ferrari on the rail and I thought the same it was running so fast we got to Venice about 10 PM.

First time we reached to Train station at Venice, it's beside the Grand canal and there are boats cruising in the river, first time I've seen that moment, I said to myself "I will come back again some day!" it adores me a lot. but we cannot waste too much time there, we had to find the hotel reserved. After we check for the hotel we knew that it's located at the land side of Venice called "Mestre" so we have to take the bus back from Island side(Venice) to Land side (Mestre).

[05-07-2009] We woke up at the early morning and immediately we ask for another night at the hotel, but bad luck, it wasn't available but there was another besides hotel so we went there to get it. We find the transportation map and bought the 2 days ticket of transportation which can use with public transportation in Venice and Mestre then we took the bus to Venice. We got to Venice and firstly we find for the breakfast, we got one nice Italian restaurant and ordered a lot Big pan Pizza and Spaghetti etc.. We walked through many lanes beside the canals we sat at the garden and captured a lot of photos. We got in to the first boat to the Saint Mark pier which being the central landmark and gathering place of Venice, we walked like observation to almost every lanes and bought many cones of pure yogurt ice-cream.

The st.Mark's Square means the drawing room of Europe and I have truly no doubt about the architectures and the meaning.

We got the plan for finding the nice and quiet place to see the sunset by searching in the map, and we found one place which there might be not much of people for we can have some rest there, finally we find one, it's located at the opposite side of St.Mark Square, I took about 2-3 pier stop to get there. There are dormitory there and there are benched for sit and relax until the sun set about 9 PM then we went to find for the traditional dinner and went back to Hotel.

[06-07-2009] This was the last day in Venice, we check out from the Hotel and carry all stuffs to the Train station, we booked the ticket to Budapest (Hungary) at night and we deposit all of our stuffs there at the train station. This day was like an free day, we just took every number of the boats to every lanes of the canal and have a nice food, the sky was so dull and quite cold for the weather but we just took it and captured a lot of photos. We find for the sovenior and bought some fruits and taked away food for dinner along the train to Budapest which will took quite long period through Slovenia and Croatia.

[07-07-2009] We woke up at the Slovenia-Croatia border because of the immigration police wanted to check for our passport, and We got the problem!! "We hold the Thai Passport and Croatia wasn't in European Union(schengen)" at that time, we tried to tell them that we just pass your country to Hungary but it was un acceptable, they told us that we have to get down from the train and got back Ljubljana (Slovenia) then went another way to Budapest. We had no choice we had to went out from Croatia. We was so tried that day and just wanted to go some how to the Hungary, so we went to Slovenia Airport and took the fight to Budapest(it's cost a lot).
